Ecobuild 2012
EcoBuild at London’s ExCel was a trade exhibition surrounding the eco-friendly, sustainable and green building materials and systems that are on sale to make the construction industry keep to its side of the ‘Green Deal’ when it comes to the environment.
I was invited to cover the event by Geoff Wilkinson of Wilkinson Construction Consultants, who is one of the leading figures in the UK for building regulations, offering a cost effective alternative to using the Local Authority for your building project where work under the building regs is being carried out.
The aim was to try and capture the feel of the show and to get some great shots of new and innovative ‘green’ products for inclusion into Geoff’s articles in various trade journals and magazines, as well as his own blogs and newsletters. Alongside photography we also shot some video interviews with some of the key players in the building industry, whose products are more than up to the new Part L regulations that are being introduced in 2013.
The show was a real eye-opener and I really enjoyed seeing the effort that people are making to get products on to the market that are energy efficient, cost effective, environmentally friendly and actually usable by the masses. Admittedly, LED lighting, Solar Panels, Insulation and building blocks aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but the show managed to fill London’s ExCel exhibition centre to the brim for 3 days, so hopefully the people that were there are the ones that will be building a better, greener future for all of us.
